Swedish freight tech company Einride has landed a massive $100 million in new funding to speed up the rollout of its electric, self-driving trucks and expand worldwide. Big-name backers joined the round, including EQT Ventures, a West Coast asset manager, and IonQ, a leader in quantum computing. Their involvement shows strong belief in Einride’s technology and future growth.

For Einride, this is a big step forward in its goal to completely change the way goods move on highways. Since starting in 2016, the company has built what CEO Roozbeh Charli calls a “complete and forward-looking freight ecosystem.” This includes one of the world’s largest fleets of heavy-duty electric trucks, advanced self-driving features, and its own digital platform called Saga.

Saga is designed to connect all the pieces of modern shipping. It helps tackle long-standing industry problems like high emissions, worker shortages, and messy operations by combining smart planning software with autonomous and electric vehicles.

“I am excited and proud of the continued trust our investors have placed in us,” Charli said in a news release. “This funding allows us to grow with our customer base and accelerate the deployment of our autonomous freight technology. It’s a strong signal of confidence in both our team and our unique position in the market.”

EQT Ventures partner Ted Persson added, “We believe Einride is building the most complete and forward-looking freight ecosystem on the market today. Nordic tech often gets underestimated, until it suddenly reshapes entire industries. That’s exactly what Einride is doing in freight.”

The funding comes after a strong year for the company. In 2024, Einride doubled its net sales, expanded into Austria and the United Arab Emirates, and partnered with shipping giants across Europe and North America.

One of its biggest milestones came recently, when it carried out the world’s first cableless autonomous border crossing. A driverless truck successfully crossed from Norway into Sweden, moving from a non-European Union country into the EU without any human at the wheel.

With this new funding, Einride is set to keep pushing the limits of electric and autonomous freight. Its growing fleet—already among the largest heavy-duty electric truck fleets in the world—shows how the company is becoming a major player in future transportation.

As shipping continues to face environmental pressures and a shortage of drivers, Einride’s approach is proving that technology can deliver not just cleaner operations, but also greater efficiency and reliability.
